What do we remember about our past

October 16, 2019*  Recently added featuring a Sukkot celebration and TBI Alumni return!

Presenter:  Sharon Morton

Sharon Morton will lead a lunchtime program about memories which she will share and we will all discuss: What do we remember about our past? How do memories affect our future? How do words inform our actions? What can we do today to leave a legacy to the generations of the future?

Sharon Morton’s family joined Temple Beth Israel when she was only 4 years old.  She LOVED being there. Rabbi Lorge, Sara Shapiro, Charlotte Glass, Oscar Miller, and so many of the congregants are responsible for everything she did the rest of her life. As Director of Religious Education at Am Shalom in Glencoe, she held a focus on social action and social justice in so many venues.  To that point, she founded a Social Justice regional program SOJURRN, and Regional Consultation on Conscience She also served on the Board of the Midwest Ave of the Righteous, as well as on the board of RAC. When she retired, she founded “Grandparents for Social Action” and has written a small program called “Reverse Legacy”, of which she is very proud. Sharon will always be indebted to everyone at Temple Beth Israel for her beginnings in learning to love Judaism and Social Action.
