WHAT IS AN INSTALLATION AND WHY ARE WE DOING IT NOW?

The Installation of a new Rabbi is customary and ceremonial and oftentimes is scheduled months after the Rabbi starts at the congregation.  This gives the community and the rabbi a period of time of interaction and introduction allowing the installation to be more heartfelt and meaningful.  Installations at TBI do not happen often; the last one was 34 years ago.  Please review the schedule of events below and please join.

Temple Beth Israel officially welcomes

Rabbi Rachel Kaplan Marks

Schedule of Events

Installation Ceremony and Worship

Friday, December 10, 2021 7:30 PM

Guest Rabbis : Noah Chertkoff, Senior Rabbi Congregation Shalom, Milwaukee; Laura Geller, Rabbi Emerita Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills

Continuing from strength to strength.
When we transition from one book of Torah to the next, we proclaim this Hebrew phrase.  At once these words acknowledge all that was sacred and good in the chapters we have just finished, and they serve as a prayer for all of the goodness that is yet to unfold in the chapters which we now begin. So too, do we say these words as we formally mark the transition in rabbinic leadership at TBI. This Friday Night Service will include words of blessings from two of Rabbi Marks's mentors: Rabbi Noah Chertkoff and Rabbi Laura Geller. We will also share in the moment as Rabbi Michael Weinberg passes our Torah to Rabbi Marks. TBI's new Musical Ensemble will help us all to lift our voices in joyful prayer.
